You have to be on your toes when you're thinking about safety footwear. It comes with all kinds of protection, from reinforced toecaps, oil and heat resistance to electrical insulation and resistance against penetration.

Since different types of footwear can offer different combinations of protection the first thing to do is list the risks you or your colleagues face.

Here's the process:

  • Identify the risks (chemicals, puncture, slip, temperature, working environment, static electricity and so on)
  • Check the Wills Safety catalogue for footwear which gives protection against these risks
  • Test the footwear you think is best
  • If anything remains unclear contact us for advice

Since September 2005 footwear has been classified according to European safety standards.

There are two main categories: ENISO 20345-1 and ENISO 20347-1. If the footwear you choose is approved under these standards you can be sure it gives a specific level of protection.

To find out exactly what these standards cover contact us and we'll give you all the information you need.
